• Saturday, January 11, 2004 - Historic Van Schaick Mansion's Community Day Celebration between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.
  
  Cost $5 per adult, V. S. Island residents with ID and children free.
  
  While not a Chapter event, we have been invited to participate in what promises to be a fun filled afternoon.
  
  The public is invited to celebrate the 225th wedding anniversary of General Peter Gansevoort and <Catherine Van Schaick at the Historic Van Schaick Mansion's Community Day Celebration. The celebration will be held on January 11, 2004 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Historic Van Schaick Mansion, One Van Schaick Avenue in Cohoes. Mitch Lee a professional re-enactor, who portrays General Peter Gansevoort, will greet and entertain his guests.
  
  Peggy Jo Power Gifford, volunteer director of the Mansion, has recently published a booklet entitled, "The Saratoga Story and the British P.O.W's". The booklet is a collection of information on the circumstances leading up to the Battle of Saratoga, the Mansion's role in the months leading up to the battle, little known facts on the lack of a true surrender, the personalities of the key men involved and the treatment and detainment of the British prisoners of war. A book signing will take place at the Community Day Celebration.
  
  Please join your neighbors for tea, cookies and a tour of the Mansion, converse with the General and pick up a copy of "The Saratoga Story and the British P.O.W's". Free to all Van Schaick Island residents with ID. Non-VS Island residents $5.00 per person, children free. For further information and questions call Peggy at (518) 877-5720.

  The Chapter's Annual Meeting/Washington's Birthday Dinner will be held Saturday, February 18 at the Holiday Inn, 232 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY. Come join us as we celebrate Washington's Birthday. Fellowship, 5:00 pm - Dinner Served at 5:30 pm

• Saturday, March 24, 2012, 11:00 AM - ESSSAR Board of Managers Meeting
  The Columbia-Mid Hudson Valley Chapter SAR (CMHVSAR) will host the spring State Board of Managers meeting on March 24, 2012. The meeting will take place at the Pegasus Restaurant, 10885 Route 9W - Coxsackie, NY 12051. Coffee and Danish will be available at 10 AM prior to the business meeting.

  This is not a chapter event but one we participate in. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Saratoga Battlefield and the event is usually held at the Saratoga Battlefield in Stillwater, NY.

• Wednesday, July 4, 2012 10:00 AM - The 9th Annual Citizenship Ceremony
  A joint event held on the lawn of the Saratoga National Historical Park's Visitor's Center, in the Town of Stillwater, NY. A great patriotic event held on America's Birthday at one of the area's premier scenic sites at the place where the "Turning Point of the American Revolution" occurred!

• Sunday, August 07, 2011, 1:00 pm step-off - Come join us as we march and ride in the Schuylerville, NY Turning Point parade.
  A great parade so bring your family and friends as everybody loves a parade!
  
  There is shuttle service from the parade end point, the Schuyler House on south Broad Street, to the high school / Pearl Street line up area for those of us that don't care to walk up to Pearl Street.
  
  If you can't march in the parade but you want to participate let Duane Booth know and he'll have a car available so you can ride.
  
  The preferred dress is an open white shirt and dark slacks or period clothing. Please stick around after the parade for a photo even if you're participating with another group.

  The Oriskany Battle Chapter will host the September State Board of Managers meeting on September 17, 2011, 11 AM at The Beeches Restaurant Inn and Conference Center, 7900 Turin Rd., Rome, New York 13440. Coffee and doughnuts served at 10 AM.

• Sunday, September 18, 2011, 2:00 pm - Our Annual Wreath Laying at stop #2 of the Saratoga National Park's Tour Road (DAR Monument).
  
  The wreath laying is at Stop 2 (DAR Monument) of the Saratoga National Historical Park Tour Road in Stillwater, NY.
  
  A moving and colorful event commemorating those who fought here and those who serve in America's military. A Saratoga Battle Chapter/NSSAR Meeting will be held immediately after the ceremony in the SNHP Visitor's Center Meeting Room, and a joint dinner with the DAR will follow the meeting.
  
  Dinner will be at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga at 5:30 pm with fellowship beginning at 5 pm.

• Monday, October 17^th, 2011, 10 AM - Surrender Day Ceremony, Fort Hardy Park, Schuylerville, NY
  
  While not a chapter event, this is a nice event to witness as General John Burgoyne surrenders his sword to General Horatio Gates. If it rains the event may be cancelled as school children are involved.

• Sunday, October 3^rd, 2010, 11:00 AM - Gravestone Dedication, Cady Hill Cemetery on Geyser Road, Saratoga Springs, NY
  
  On Sunday, October 3, at 11:00 AM, A ceremony will be held to honor a largely unknown local hero, Major Jeremiah Cady of Massachusetts. The ceremony will honor his service during the Revolutionary War, and dedicate a new gravestone for Major Cady, the original stone having long ago disappeared. The ceremony is open to all and will take place at the Cady Hill Cemetery on Geyser Road in Saratoga (enter the industrial complex and Geyser Road Park, take immediate right).
  
  
• Friday, October 15^th, 2010, 10 AM - Surrender Day Ceremony, Fort Hardy Park, Schuylerville, NY
  
  Our Chapter will participate in this event which commemorates the surrender of British forces to the Americans forces on this date in 1777.

November

• Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, 12:00 PM - 4:00PM - Joint chapter gathering with the Walloomsac Battle Chapter at the New York State Military Museum
  
  Saratoga Battle Chapter and the Walloomsac Battle Chapter will hold a joint family event at the New York State Military Museum on Nov. 13, 2011. A pizza lunch will be served at 1:00 PM, followed by museum staff presentation about the new "19th Century:" exhibit.



• Saturday, November 19, 2011, 11 AM - State Board of Managers meeting.
  
  Newtown Battle Chapter will be hosting the November 2011 ESSSAR Board of Managers Meeting which will be held at the El Monte Inn Restaurant/Bella Casa - 51 Fisherville Road - Elmira, NY 14903 on November 19, 2011 at 11:00AM. Detailed directions can be found at the ESSSAR web site www.ess-sar.org
  
  We will be meeting in the Bella Casa Terrace which is directly to the rear of the restaurant.
